I’m writing this text with a feeling of insecurity.
I’m worried that you, the reader, would get only a brief perspective of what we believe Practical Love is.
Maybe sharing my insecurity is a good place to start this text from. Part of Practical Love is the aim to be authentic, preferably from moment to moment.
In this workshop we explore authenticity, honesty and trust in love relationships, partnerships and romantic connections. At its core, where it might be needed the most.
What if we can’t put a lid on our feelings of love for others, and what if asking our partners to put a lid on their feelings for others in turn creates other challenges? We could follow our conditioning and not talk about it. But what if we are longing to be honest, transparent, and to be ourselves in our relationships.
Together we will explore why it is hard for most of us to be transparent to partners or romantic connections about attractions to others and learn some tools to make it easier to communicate and hold each other around this. We will also explore how long term relationships in honesty and trust can evolve despite our humanness to also like other people. Aiming to stay true and transparent while balancing our needs for authenticity, security and freedom.
If attraction to other people is one of our primary fears in relationships, talking about this topic could be a doorway to bigger things. If this fear is explored, maybe we dare to ask; What do I want my love life to look like? Who do I want to be to the people I’m in relationship with? And how do I wish them to be?
This is the introduction to Practical Love, and blank paper relationships. What if we take charge over this very important part of our life and design it for meeting our long-term needs.
As a peace movement, we will also always look at the bigger picture and ask ourselves; Maybe if we can truly be ourselves and be accepted by the people closest to us, we will have the strength to act for peace when our fears show up in the rest of our lives.
The workshop will include stories, moments of sharing from all participants and exercises in groups. The exercises will support you to explore your own life, both things that have played out in the past and perhaps plant seeds of what your “blank paper love life” could look like.
Commonly asked question: Is Practical Love for people who want to live in open relationships?
We believe that if love had one wish, it would be that all of us dared to live love fully, in our own way.
This means that many people live practical love in consciously chosen monogamous relationships, where attractions to others can be talked about. Others live practical love in consciously chosen open relationships, where attractions and feelings of love are lived out. Others live practical love somewhere in between, in less defined structures or as singles, letting their heart guide their every move.
